ALRS 2019 Annual Spring Field Trip

On March 16, 2019 ALRS students gathered at the parking lot near ENR2 to board the UA van for the trip to the Boyce Thompson Arboretum. The Spring Field Trip of the ALRS program is one of two main events for students of this program. The other main event is the Student Retreat which is held in the Fall which serves as a showcase of students's research and a get together to welcome new students and ALRS faculty. The Spring Field trips destinations are locations which would be of interest to ALRS students in relation to their studies of the sustainable use of arid and semi-arid lands. The Boysce Thompson Arboretum is, therefore, an ideal destination for this purpose. As described in their website: " The Arboretum brings together plants from the planet's many varied deserts and dry lands displaying them alongside unspoiled examples of the native Sonoran Desert vegetation."
