Ladd Keith, ALRS Ph.D. Student as well as Planning Lecturer and Director of Academic Initiatives and Student Success at The University of Arizona’s College of Architecture, Planning, and Landscape Architecture, has recently secured research funding from the Climate Assessment for the Southwest (CLIMAS). Ladd will lead this project as a CLIMAS Research Affiliate to assess climate change resilience planning in several cities in Arizona and New Mexico that represent a range of geographies, climate risks, economic bases, and population sizes. This research is part of a CLIMAS regional assessment of activities to better understand current concerns and plans for climate risk and resilience and identify needs for additional information with the goal of improving science-informed decision making. CLIMAS is housed at The University of Arizona’s Institute of the Environment and is part of the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)’s Regional Integrated Sciences and Assessments (RISA) program to help reduce risk and enhance resilience in the face of climate variability and change. The CLIMAS program brings together researchers who study the processes and effects of climate on the southwest with individuals and organizations that need climate information to make informed decisions.
