ALRS Student Contributed to the Worker Heat Protection Ordinance, Heat Action Roadmap, Adopted by Tucson
The City of Tucson has passed its first Heat Action Roadmap and a new heat protection ordinance for city contractors. This milestone includes 61 specific actions designed to inform, prepare, and protect our community from extreme heat, cool homes and community centers, and enhance neighborhood resilience.
ALRS student, Karina Guadalupe Martinez Molina, was part of the team that contributed to this achievement. Special thanks to Mayor Romero for her leadership and Fatima Luna for spearheading the effort. This accomplishment was possible thanks to the collaboration of many dedicated individuals and advisors (Nicole Gillett, Leslie Ethan, Stephen Addison, Ladd Keith, Malini Roy, Sara Meerow, just to name a few, the complete list can be found in the document.)
