We have an ALRS student who has joined us starting Spring 2024, Mohanad Abdullah Almokhadm!

Mohanad is a UA alum, having received his Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering at The University of Arizona, 2023. He received his Bachelor of Sciences in Mechanical Engineering at Tennessee Technological University in 2015. His research interests include: Advancing Arid Land Sustainability through Innovative Water Resource Management and Conservation.

Why did you choose the ALRS program?

"I chose the ALRS program because of the pressing water stress and limitations faced by my home country, Saudi Arabia. Recognizing the importance of addressing these challenges, Saudi Arabia has begun to prioritize local initiatives and adopt global best practices. I am eager to contribute to these efforts and be part of leading the region towards water sustainability."

What are your goals with a PhD in ALRS?

" In the short term, I aim to actively engage in projects related to Saudi and Middle East Green Initiatives. Looking ahead, my long-term vision is to leverage the knowledge and best practices gained from the ALRS program to drive advancements in water sustainability in Saudi Arabia."

Anything else you’d like to say?

"I am excited about the wealth of knowledge that awaits me in the ALRS program and eager to expand my expertise at the intersection of Engineering and Arid Land Resources Sciences. Additionally, I am impressed by the unique learning environment offered by the Environment and Natural Resources building, which I believe will greatly enhance my academic journey."
